Agaricus Mushroom Designated as State Symbol in Colorado, USA – Renewed Attention on Agaricus Species
In the spring of 2025, the state of Colorado in the United States officially designated Agaricus julius, a species of wild mushroom, as its official State Mushroom.
Agaricus julius belongs to the genus Agaricus and is known for its distinctive cherry and almond-like fragrance. It is a visually striking species native to Colorado’s high-altitude forests, and was selected in recognition of its ecological role and contribution to the state’s biodiversity.
Our company utilizes Agaricus blazei Murrill, another species within the same Agaricus genus, as a primary raw material. Although A. blazei differs from A. julius in origin and application, we are pleased to see increasing international interest in the broader Agaricus family of mushrooms.
